Every couple of months I get into a groove of not drinking enough water…and then I realize it (well I always realize it, I just don’t particularly care) and I try to make myself drink more water. I’m on about week 3 of my drink more water movement.
When I was trying to do this the last time I did it by drinking 6 or 7 mason jars of water. That worked for awhile, but then I lost count and went back to not drinking that much. Now I came up with a new system that’s going pretty well. My goal is to drink atleast 2.5 of my Camelbaks (750 mL), but I’d prefer 3.
I am drinking 1 full one by the time I’m done working out, that way it’s a good start to the day. Next I try to drink the second before lunch and then work on the third the remainder of the day. For some reason my water drinking slows down dramatically in the second half of the day. I guess it slows because I’m out running around, doing errands and chasing after Liv. I’m also not that good about drinking it on the weekends because they’re less structured.
So basically this post is just to convince myself why I should continue drinking more water…and less coffee.
The best thing that has come from all this water drinking is my skin seems much more hydrated (my face mainly).
Other top reasons to drink water:
- Helps boost productivity.
- Clearer skin
- Increases energy and decreases fatigue
- Boost immune system
- Helps digestion
- Helps you avoid eating when you’re not really hungry (and helps you feel fuller.)
Find what works for you to get you to drink water. Some people like infusing fruit or veggies into their water and keeping a huge jug. For me, the most realistic way to get water down is my water bottle. My body is still adjusting to drinking so much water (basically using the bathroom every hour) but I know soon it will get more used to it and it’ll work itself out. I highly recommend carrying a water bottle everywhere and seeing how fast you can drink it.
I’ll also mention that I can’t wait to get moving more and start going for walks when it really warms up here. I’m definitely feeling sluggish from all the non-movement of the winter.
5 things I’m most excited about for spring and summer:
- Not being bundled up.
- Being outside. (WALKING and RUNNING OUTSIDE!)
- Watermelon and berries
- Iced coffee (although I already brought this back.
